Mortal Kombat 11 Award News, Plus Joker Teaser
by Roy Arkon on Dec 13, 2019 :: 0 Comments

We got a ton of news regarding Mortal Kombat 11 in context of game awards, so let's get to it.

Unfortunately, MK11 didn't win the the award for the Best Fighting Game of 2019 at the Game Awards show. However, MK11 has won the award for Best Fighting Game of 2019 from IGN, which is a huge honor in it's own right. Ed Boon also came with his response for the winning the other day as you can see below.

That's not to say that MK11 didn't had any impact at the Game Awards show though, as Facebook Gaming, in collaboration with the Game Awards show as part of the campaign for highlighting the work that women have made for all of the games this year, have given the recognition for Shannah O'Meara, a Senior Artist of Cinematics at WB Games, for all of the work that she had put for designing the iconic Fatalities in MK11

And last but not least, MK11 has dropped one more thing for us to look for, and that is a teaser for the next DLC character in the game, the Joker, once again being voiced by Richard Epcar who voiced both Raiden and Joker in all of the NRS games since Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe, in an intro with Cassie Cage in her Harley Quinn skin. As you can see, Joker's face have been remodeled to be fit him more.

Congratulations for Mortal Kombat 11, NetherRealm Studios and WB Games for winning IGN's Best Fighting Game Award for 2019, and Congratulations to Shannah O'Meara for getting the recognition for her amazing work on the MK11 Fatalities. And with that being said, stay tuned for more news regarding the Joker in MK11.

An Online Krossplay Beta Feature Added To MK11
by Roy Arkon on Dec 13, 2019 :: 0 Comments

Yes, you read it right. In a huge surprise out of nowhere, NetherRealm Studios have announced on their official Twitter page that they will be testing an online Krossplay feature for Mortal Kombat 11. It should be noted that this feature is currently only for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, and doesn't include the platforms of PC, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia. Also note that this is a beta, so keep that in mind.

Here is the Tweet from NRS' Twitter page, which also includes a link to an FAQ from from WB Games' Mortal Kombat Support website, with all the details you need to know about this beta.

This is huge news without a a doubt, only very few games get to have an online Krossplay between two separated consoles, and none of those so far were from the Fighting Game genre. While Street Fighter V had a Krossplay between PS4 and PC, Mortal Kombat 11 is the first Fighting Game to add Krossplay between two separated consoles, the PS4 and XB1. That goes to show how big, important and successful MK11, and this might open the door not just for other platforms to be included in that feature for MK11, but to have other fighting games to include it as well.

Stay tuned for more updates on the manner, and if you play on either PS4 or XB1, feel free to test the online Krossplay feature for MK11.

Mortal Kombat 11 Patch Notes - 12/12/19
by Roy Arkon on Dec 13, 2019 :: 0 Comments

The latest patch for Mortal Kombat 11 has been released for both PS4 and XB1. It includes only a few changes, although it includes big ones, like adding Raiden's announcer voice and reducing the Kombat League Point Cap that player can lose after losing a match. Here are the patch notes:

General Gameplay Adjustments

* Fixed an issue causing several Krushing Blows to do slightly increased damage
* Added an Newsletter Subscription option which rewards players with a Raiden Announcer Voice for signing up
* Fixed an issue that was causing Nightwolf, Sindel, & Terminator Augments to not work as intended

Kombat League / Online

* Reduced the Kombat League Point Cap that a player can lose in a match to 50

Towers of Time

* Fixed an issue with certain attacks killing the opponent at the same time a modifier activates during an Endurance Match causing a long delay before the next opponent appears
* Fixed a rare issue that could cause the camera to get out of bounds when a Fatal Blow or Krushing Blow occurs while the Ice Totem is active

Character Specific Adjustments

* Baraka - Blood Lunge’s Krushing Blow works correctly again in all situations

A Mysterious Meteor In The Towers Of Time
by Roy Arkon on Dec 7, 2019 :: 0 Comments

The Mortal Kombat franchise is well known for it's secrets and Easter Eggs, and perhaps another one has been teased. In the Towers of Time mode in Mortal Kombat 11, a mysteious meteor was seen going through the skies of the Towers of Time.

Here is a video from my YouTube channel, showcasing the meteor after I've ran into it by pure coincidence:

So is it really a sign for another secret for MK11? Only time will tell, so stay tuned.

Kittelsen Responds To Harassments & Threats Over Sindel
by Roy Arkon on Dec 2, 2019 :: 0 Comments

Over the past month and especially since the latest Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Kast, the vocal minority have expressed a lot of complaints regarding Sindel in MK11 and her new plot twist of her being evil rather then good, while keep stating that this an entire retcon. Although that might be ignored, the vocal minority has gone way too far, as Shawn Kittelsen of NetherRealm Studios, the writer behind the Mortal Kombat XL Comic and the current MK11 story, has received a ton of harassments and threats on Twitter, all over Sindel alone, and even worse is that he had to deal with all of that while his son has suffered from frightening illness over the past couple of weeks. Kittelsen then responded with this series of Tweets below:

Thankfully, Kittelsen's son seems to get better, and Kittelsen has put out another Tweet with his MK11 Noob Saibot sketch:

Author's clarification: To all of those who don't like this plot twist for Sindel, I understand that this is what you used to see regarding the character since Mortal Kombat 3, but that doesn't mean you can just attack, harass and threat the workers at NRS because of this alone. All it does is putting a black cloud of bad reputation on the whole NRS community, and like Kittelsen said, it only devalues your opinions. They are people just like you. If you wanna express your opinions, do it in a respectful and constructive manner, but in such a toxic fashion like this. And once again, it's only a plot twist, not a full retcon. And it's only for the current timeline that has started since Mortal Kombat 9 (2011), not the original timeline that ended in Mortal Kombat Armageddon. Once you put everything together that happened from MK9 to MK11 it all makes perfect sense. Not to mention that there is a small chance Sindel might not end up like that for the next game since she is a DLC character in MK11, although Stephanie Brownback has stated in the Kombat Kast that this is canon, so it's extremely unlikely that to change, even though that once again, it makes perfect sense.

Just be smart and respectful, that's all.
