Ed Boon Teases Shang Tsung For Mortal Kombat 11 And More
by Roy Arkon on Mar 7, 2019 :: 0Two weeks ago, we reported that Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is teasing Shang Tsung who he portrayed in previous Mortal Kombat media for Mortal Kombat 11, and it was probably only a matter of time before Ed Boon would go for a tease of his own. MK's co-creator and head of NetherRealm Studios has posted this Tweet with a GIF of Tagawa under the role of Shang Tsung.
Also, during the MK11 story trailer that was posted yesterday, we can see for a moment a group of people being hanged by ropes while their souls being drained.
As you might remember, one of the stages introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance was the Nethership, and Mortal Kombat: Deception introduced the Nethership Interior as a separated one. According to MK lore, the ship's main duty is to carry captives and even the mummified remains of Onaga the Dragon King's lost army back to Shang Tsung's Palace in Outworld. Prisoners serve the remainder of their lives in slavery, only to surrender their souls to Shang Tsung when they die. And it does look like the Nethership is making a comeback in MK11 as seen in the screenshot below, which means that the hanged people might be indeed Nethership prisoners.
All of those hints further indicating the possible comeback of the first ever MK final boss for MK11. We will see if they would indeed lead up to this.
