No Mortal Kombat 11 Comic According To Shawn Kittelsen
by Roy Arkon on Dec 10, 2018 :: 4 Comments

As you might remember, Mortal Kombat XL had it's own comic book series written by Shawn Kittelsen, which explained the events that took place between Chapter 1 and 2 of the MKXL story mode, in a similar fashion to Injustice 1: Gods Among Us and Injustice 2. While the comic turned out to be only semi-canon and not fully canon due to some inconsistencies in it's plot by comparison to the game's plot, it was still a great read overall and it gave a great basis for the origins of the new characters introduced in MKXL.

It turns out however that Mortal Kombat 11 won't have it's own comic book series, according to Kittelsen who answered to that question in a response to a Twitter user in this Tweet. He then followed up with another Tweet in which he said how grateful he is to the MK fans and how the MKXL comics were a big turning point for his life and career, and that he will never forget them.

MKX Goro Fatality Easter Egg in IJ2
by Roy Arkon on Jul 30, 2018 :: 0 Comments

Injustice 2 already revealed to have several Mortal Kombat Easter Eggs, which were discovered since it's release last year. Now we have yet another Easter Egg that was found, courtesy of your's truly.

If you look at the far left corner of the Joker's Playground stage in IJ2, you will see that there is a doll sitting there, with it's head stuck in a cavity in it's chest. That is a direct reference to Goro's Peek-A-Boo Fatality in Mortal Kombat XL.

Here is a video from my YouTube channel, showing the Easter Egg. Enjoy.

The Cycle Has Been Broken According to Ed Boon
by Roy Arkon on Jun 14, 2018 :: 0 Comments

As you probably noticed by now, E3 this year is almost over, yet there was no sign of any kind to a new Mortal Kombat game from NetherRealm Studios. By the usual pattern, NRS release a new game every two years, with a new game from each franchise, Mortal Kombat and Injustice, every 4 years, which included so both Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) and Mortal Kombat X along with their complete updated iterations, Mortal Kombat (2011): Komplete Edition and Mortal Kombat XL. Yet there is no sign that shows any indication that a new Mortal Kombat is in the works for a release in 2019.

Well, now the reason has been revealed: The cycle of the 2 year pattern has been broken.

MK Co-Creator and had of NRS Ed Boon was interviewed for Giant Bomb along with several other developers, and at the beginning of the interview, Boon officially confirmed that there is indeed nothing in the works from NRS at the moment. The reason for that is NRS, along with Warner Bros Games, have decided to break the cycle, and according to Boon, too many people have been following this pattern. Boon said also that he wish he could've announce something, but there is nothing in the works for now.

You can see the whole interview here:

This marks the first time that the time length between 2 MK games is more then 4 years, which is the longest time yet. That is of course, unless NRS show anything in the very near future and all of this is just one big swerve for a planned shocker.

So yes, there is no new Mortal Kombat game at the moment. We will have to wait and see what will happen and when it will happen. And in the meantime, we can all still enjoy Mortal Kombat XL.

The Hype for Mortal Kombat 11 Has Begun!
by Roy Arkon on Mar 11, 2018 :: 0 Comments

After nearly 3 years since Mortal Kombat XL has been released, MK Co-Creator and head of NetherRealm Studios Ed Boon is on Twitter yet again, starting the hype for the next chapter in the iconic Mortal Kombat franchise. He sent this this Tweet, showing a street sign with title "Emperor Quang Trung", obviously a clear hint at the sorcerers Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, two of the most prominent antagonists of the series who were also the co-bosses of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, as well as the term "Emperor" which can refer to any of the Outworld emperors: Onaga the Dragon King, Shao Kahn, Mileena and Kotal Kahn.

One can only wonder what that title really leads to, and what will be the direction of the story for MK11. Only time will tell, but until then, all aboard the Mortal Kombat 11 hype train!
