Which Klassic MK Mode Would You Bring Back In Mortal Kombat 12?

by Gambid on Mar 21, 2023 :: 3
Today Ed Boon asked his twitter follows, which classic Mortal Kombat side/mini game would they personally like to bring back. And while we were extremely disappointed that Pong and Galaxian did not appear on the list, we were happy to see that one of our favorites gathered most of the votes. In the list were all the mini and not so mini games from Mortal Kombat: Deception and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon: Puzzle Kombat, Chess Kombat, Motor Kombat and Konquest mode. And without a surprise Konquest mode got the most votes. Have a look:
Which Mini Mortal Kombat Mode Would You Bring Back

In fact Konquest mode first appeared in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance as sort of a training mode where you got to learn a lot about the story of the kombatants while training with them. For those of you willing to read a lot, we have all the story right here.

Most fans are however fascinated and a truly love Konquest mode's second incarnation in Mortal Kombat: Deception. In it you got to explore 6 different realms as the new-comer Shujinko and train, while meeting basically every fighter who has ever appeared in the franchise. This mode was for back in day a major undertaking. And to have it just as one of the games included in Mortal Kombat: Deception was a tremendous achievement from the development team. For your viewing pleasure, we dug up this video from our archives:
The so far final incarnation of Konquest mode was in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, where you witness the events that would lead to the Armageddon through the eyes of Taven, brother of Dagon and son of Argus, protector of Edenia. This mode is special as it borrows many mechanics from Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. It did sacrifice the free roaming and exploration aspects though.

Will we see Konquest return in Mortal Kombat 12? The Krypt in Mortal Kombat 11 got really close but a mode with a larger scale is definitely very welcome. Which version of Konquest mode is your favorite? Let us know in the comments.

A Longtime Member Of The Mortal Kombat Community Needs Our Help!

by Roy Arkon on Sep 23, 2022 :: 3
Тhis is not the kind of news that we usually post here. However, it is just as important if not even more so and it needs to be addressed and shared.

For those of you who don't know, there is a longtime member of the Mortal Kombat community named Jason Sodano, also known as Check. He's best known for his YouTube channel where over the years he has posted a lot of MK and NetherRealm Studios/Warner Bros. Games videos, mainly for the 3D era of MK games. He also helped at putting together episodes 8, 9 and 10 of The History of Mortal Kombat.

Unfortunately, over the course of the last year and a half, Check has suffered some severe health issues, which caused him an immense amount of pain and mental suffering. In October of 2021, fearing the worst, he made his condition public knowledge via a heartbreaking post over at fellow Mortal Kombat fan site Test Your Might.

Almost a year later, Check reappeared with a new Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance combo video, informing everyone that the fight for his health still continues and is unfortunately far from over.

The ongoing health issues led to so many medical bills, that it left him no choice but to start a Go Fund Me page in order to raise enough money to pay for the treatment that he needs.

We are humbled by the strength of everyone suffering an ongoing medical problem and ask everyone who can to support Check in his time of need to do so. Any help is appreciated and welcomed.

Click here to visit Check's Go Fund Me page.

Huge thanks to ded for informing us about this situation.

And for those who are interested to see Check's work, check out his latest Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance combo video right here, enjoy.

History Of Weapons In The Mortal Kombat Games

by Roy Arkon on Jul 29, 2022 :: 0
The fighting game genre had weapon-based fighting styles being used and showcased across multiple games and across multiple franchises, and the Mortal Kombat franchise is one of them. While it was never a full-on weaon-based series like Soul Calibur or Samurai Shodown, MK had weapons being used for the vast majority of it's games and for a vast majority of characters in the series, with the weapons having their level of usage, visibility and gameplay impact being changed from game to game, and in some cases, from character to character.

In his newest video, Ketchup breaks down everything that weapons have brought to the MK series, from Mortal Kombat II all the way to Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate.

Author's note: Technically speaking, the MK series started to have weapons since Mortal Kombat 1, but it was only with Scorpion and Kano and with only 1 special move each (Scorpion's Spear and Kano's Knife Toss), while MK2 was the game that really gave the signs of things to come for the series as the concept of weapons has been used for more characters and not only way more than just one special move, but Fatalities as well.

Check out the video from Ketchup below, enjoy:

A Hidden Reptile Easter Egg In MK11U (Double Standard)?

by Roy Arkon on Jan 27, 2022 :: 0
The Mortal Kombat franchise is very well known for it's huge amount of secrets and Easter Eggs that were hidden across all of the games in the series. And it seems that yours truly might have just found another one in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. And no, I'm not talking about Reptile's cameo in MK11U's Krypt that was already discovered since day 1, I'm talking about a completely different Easter Egg, although it is related to the Krypt in another MK game.

It turns out that in the far left corner of the Prehistoric Age version of the Hourglass Stage, there are several round objects that look like eggs. According to Reptile's Past, which is an Extra that can be found in the Krypt in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, the Saurian Race, which is the Race that Reptile comes from, originated from Earthrealm during the time of the dinosaurs, as documented by archives of the Vampire Race which Nitara comes from, before they had to flee to the Realm of Zaterra due to the godly battle between Raiden and Shinnok that caused the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs from Earthrealm.

A Hidden Reptile Easter Egg In MK11U - Double Standard

Since that this stage takes place in the dinosaurs era, this could very well mean that those eggs are actually Saurian Race eggs, with one of them maybe even the one Reptile hatched from. Yes, MKDA and MK11U have been occurred in 2 separated timelines, but there are some events and details that are universal across all the timelines, including the origins of the Saurian Race.

Here is a video from my YouTube channel, highlighting the Saurian Race Eggs. Enjoy. :mrgreen:

So what do you think about these Easter Eggs (double standard)? Let us know in the comments below.
