Massive Patch Hits Mortal Kombat 1 on PS5, XBox Series and PC

by Gambid on Oct 25, 2023 :: 3
Two days ago (October 23th, 2023) changes started to happen in Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) and a bit later a massive patch was first made available on PlayStation 5 and XBox Series consoles and then on PC.

The patch fixes a lot of issues, brings a lot of quality of life features, attempts to balance the game and adds some additional content. Here are some of the highlight:
  • Halloween Cage Mansion Variant added
  • Wu Shi Academy Evening Bundle added
  • New Settings in Online Mode
  • AI feels totally different
  • Invasions got a major overhaul and feels completely different. It received changes to AI, items properties, purchasing, walking, forging, camera, ... well basically everything.
  • You can now pin moves to the screen during fights
  • Most of the quests now work properly.
  • The Shrine was sped up
  • Tons of character balancing changes
Now lets have a look at currently one of the most amazing arenas in Mortal Kombat 1 (2023): Halloween Cage Mansion:
And here are also some screenshots to give you an even better impression:
Mortal Kombat 1 Helloween Cage Mansion Mortal Kombat 1 Helloween Cage Mansion
As of right now, we are unsure as to whether this arena is only temporary available or whether it would stay permanently. We do hope it is the first one.

We are happy to see Netherrealm Studios hard at work on fixing the issues and improving the game. However, the presence of some of these strongly indicates that Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) could have probably used a little bit more time in the oven. We hope that the studio will keep on improving, and fixing the game bringing it into the form it deserves to be.

Of course not every change is going to be loved by everyone and there are definitely some things that did not go well with this patch. And we would like to point to one particular issue here as it is connected to a currency that is purchasable with real life money and this is simply put unacceptable and inexcusable. Previous to this patch, if you owned part of a bundle that was in the Premium Store, the prize of the bundle would be reduced. After the patch, this is no longer the case and you are required to pay full prize. The Masquarade Bundle's prize is now 1900 Dragon Krystals, regardless of whether you have the Sub-Zero skin or not. Previous prize was 1100 if you already have Sub-Zero. We strongly advise everyone against purchasing this bundle if you have Sub-Zero until the situation has been resolved. No guarantee of course that it ever will be.

What is your favorite change of them all? Tell us in the comments.

When is this patch going to be available on the Switch? We do not know.

Janet Cage Confirmed As a Kameo for MK1 (2023), KP1 Characters Order Revealed

by Roy Arkon on Oct 14, 2023 :: 0
After the teaser trailer for Omni-Man and Tremor Kameo for Mortal Kombat 1 (2023), we got new details regarding Kombat Pack 1, including a big revelation regarding one of the Kameos in KP1, thanks to MK YouTuber, unCAGEDgamez.

According to an e-mail that unCAGEDgamez got directly from WB Games, the order of the characters to be released for KP1 in Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) has been revealed to be as follows: Omni-Man (November 2023), Quan Chi (winter 23/24), Peacemaker (winter 23/24), Ermac (spring 24), Homelander (spring 24) and finally Takeda (summer 24).

But that's not all, as you remember, when KP1 got leaked by Amazon Italy, Johnny Cage was revealed to be one of the Kameos in KP1, alongside Tremor, Khameleon, Mavado and Ferra. However, according to the e-mail, it turns out that the Cage that we are gonna get as a Kameo is not Johnny Cage, but rather Janet Cage, the female version of Johnny Cage from a different timeline that we can see in the cutscens of the final chapter of MK1 (2023)'s story mode, and you can even fight against an evil version of her from another timeline as one of the special fights during the story mode's final chapter, where she uses Johnny's moveset, as you can see in this video right here from my channel.

This proves that the leaks were not 110% real after all, as the name "Johnny Cage" was just a placeholder for Janet Cage so that there will be no spoilers for the story mode even if the list of Kameos would be leaked, NetheRealm Studios and WB Games clearly thought far enough ahead for that scenario. And even more importantly, this confirms Janet Cage to essentially be the very first playable newcomer of MK1 (2023). Even though she's only gonna be a Kameo, she's still gonna be in gameplay form and not just a fightable-only character in story mode.

It will be very interesting to see how she will function as a Kameo and which moves she will bring to the table. We will of course let you know as more details arrive.

Check out unCAGEDgamez' video with the WB Games e-mail and all the details.

MK1 (2023) Official Omni-Man Teaser Trailer, Tremor Kameo Included

by Roy Arkon on Oct 14, 2023 :: 0
Ed Boon was a guest at New York Comic-Con, which still happens right now as of the writing of this article, and during the convention, we got the teaser trailer for the very first DLC character of Kombat Pack 1 for Mortal Kombat 1 (2023), the evil supernatural being, Omni-Man, the guest character from the popular animated show, Invincible.

Being voiced of course by Jonathan Kimble Simmons, Omni-Man brings his might and viciousness into the Mortal Kombat arena, showcasing how perfectly he fits in an MK game, especially with his Fatalities, which are directly taken from the Invincible show. And if you look closely at the Boon/Tobias sign during the Subway Fatality, this is not just any Subway Fatality, but the Subway Stage Fatality which was introduced in Mortal Kombat 3 Vanilla, bringing the fan service in a full swing.

But that's not all, as we also got to see the first DLC Kameo, this is none other than the brown male Ninja and the ground breaking kombatant, Tremor, who was last seen being a full-on playable DLC character in Kombat Pack 1 of Mortal Kombat X, coming in with his earth shattering and molten hot abilities to give assist to everyone in battle.

As for a release date, the trailer doesn't give an exact date, only that Omni-Man comes in November of 2023, and with no info regarding Tremor. This is not too far off though, as this is the same amount of time between DLC characters that was for the characters in Kombat Pack 1 for Mortal Kombat 11. Once the official release date gets revealed, we of course will inform you as the reveal arrives.

Check out the trailer below, enjoy:
