by Roy Arkon on Sep 27, 2023 :: 1 A new patch was just released for Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) for Play Station 5 and XBox Series X/S. While this patch doesn't show anything regarding the specific special move bug that is supposedly a "player 1 advantage" bug that it's scaling and true nature still need to be fully revealed, it still shows some important fixes that will improve the overall experience of the game. Here are the patch notes according to the Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) website.

MK1 (2023) "Player 1 Advantage Bug" is NOT REAL, Confirmed after Testing [UPDATE]
by Roy Arkon on Sep 27, 2023 :: 1 Over the last 24 hours or so, there has been a huge bandwagon going on regarding a supposed "player 1 advantage bug" in Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) that was spread by a Mortal Kombat player and YouTuber by the name of mrAPchem. According to him, if you try to use combos while playing as player 2, certain combos would drop even if you have perfect execution, as the hurtbox of player 1 is supposedly smaller than that of player 2, making combos to land much easier as player 1 by comparison to player 2.
This isn't the first time that such bugs have occurred in MK games, as a whole bunch of classic MK games, with the most recent one being Mortal Kombat 9 (2011), had this bug that caused one of the two players to have an advantage over the other, although in these games it occurred for universal mechanics across the board and across all characters, rather than just specific combos.
However, after looking at the video in which mrAPchem shows this supposed "bug", I myself could've easily see that the settings that he did for his combos (in this case, with Kitana) were guaranteed to fail. As you can see at the 03:30 mark in the video, he used two different controllers for each player side, a PlayStation 5 Duelshock for one player and an XBOX Series X/S controller for the other player. This is obviously false to do as different controllers have different input latency, making inputs to not come at the same time. Also, you can see the input window timing in his settings being set for "long", this is also false as it messes the timing of special moves coming out, and it should be either "medium" or "short".
I am very glad to inform you that this "bug" is invalid after testing it myself.
I tested this with Reptile and did multiple combos not only solo but also with 3 different Kameos (Sektor, Scorpion and Motaro) and I did all of these combos against Nitara (a female character who by default has smaller hurtbox), and I did this on PS5 with having two PS5 Duelshocks (so the controllers were exactly the same) and I had input window timing set for "medium" instead of "long", and the combos I did were all juggle-based with multiple juggles and also both mid-screen and corner. And I managed to get all combos just fine on P2 side and I also managed to get them regardless if I was P2 on either the left side OR the right side.
So as you can see, this bug is invalid, and you all can relax and not to be feared about being at disadvantage while playing as player 2. I've already informed this to WB Games directly and got my message. As mentioned earlier, you need to make sure that you got these things properly set:
1) Make sure you're using the right controllers and that they both function correctly
2) Set the input window timing in your in-game settings to either "medium" or "short", and whatever you do, don't set it to "long".
3) Make sure that all other things such as your interent connection, the screen/monitor and everything are set properly and function properly.
UPDATE:
Ed Boon came to X to address the issue, saying that there was indeed a bug and it has been fixed, and it will be sent to the game via update very soon.
Regardless, it's great news that NetherRealm Studios and WB Games already fixed the issue so quickly and the fix will arrive to the game very soon.
And on that note, keep enjoy Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) as the phenomenal game that it is.

Ed Boon came to X to address the issue, saying that there was indeed a bug and it has been fixed, and it will be sent to the game via update very soon.
This of course doesn't mean that it was a true "player 1 advantage" bug, as once again the amount of characters and moves that this happened to is very small for both categories. It could've been that it was just a character-specific issue that just by pure coincidence happened to several characters all the same time, considering that there were main roster characters, like Reptile, as well as Kameos (Sektor, Scorpion and Motaro) that this bug didn't happen to. Not to mention that almost no one that yours truly saw has even came close to test this the same way I did, and even those who did have not test it exactly the same way or didn't give full details for their testing. So we will have to wait for the patch notes to see what this truly was and the scale of it truly was.
Regardless, it's great news that NetherRealm Studios and WB Games already fixed the issue so quickly and the fix will arrive to the game very soon.
And on that note, keep enjoy Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) as the phenomenal game that it is.

Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) Officially Released
by Gambid on Sep 19, 2023 :: 1Today (September 19, 2023) is the day millions of Mortal Kombat fans have waited for for almost four and a half years. Today is the official release date (not counting the early access on September 14th) of Mortal Kombat 1 (2023), the first installment of the franchise developed for the newer generation of systems, aiming to introduce the player to a new era. Let's have a look at the release trailer for the game:
Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) arrives with 23 main roster kombatants, 15 Kameos, a Story Mode that is leaps and bounds ahead of everything Netherrealm Studios has delivered so far, Klassic Towers, Online Modes and a Single Player Invasions Mode with seasonal content that from what we have seen so far has amazing potential to keep the game interesting and engaging for a long period of time.
The game, like most of today's games, is however still a bit rough around the edges with Netherrealm Studios and the teams behind the Switch and the PC ports hard at work to fix every reported issue. We have already seen two depending on the system several patches. Make sure you let them know if you spot a problem. On this page you can also see a list of currently reported issues.
We at MKSecrets.Net have spent the last couple of days hard at work on our Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) section. Just like the game, it is still a bit rough around the edges but it contains a lot of great information and guides that can help you get the most out of the game. We will continue improving it as we learn new things and you can also help us by submitting information and corrections. The section offers among other things:
Before we go, we would like to congratulate Netherrealm Studios, QLOC, Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive for this amazing achievement and wish them all the best moving forward with supporting Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) for a very long time.
Did you play Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) already? What do you think? Let us know in the comments.

Mortal Kombat 3 Cyber Smoke Fight in Mortal Kombat 1 (2023)
by Roy Arkon on Sep 19, 2023 :: 1 Just like for the entire history of the Mortal Kombat series, there are ton of surprises, Easter eggs and references in Mortal Kombat 1 (2023), and here's one of many, many of those to come.
During the final chapter of the story mode, in which you can select any of the characters in the base roster (including Shang Tsung if you have pre-orderd the game or bought him as DLC, mind you), the fights that you get all the way up to the top of the Pyramid, in the same spirit of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, are always gonna be different up until the final fight against the Deadly Alliance, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi.
One of these fights that you can get is against non-other than Smoke. More specifically, Cyber Smoke, in his violet-blue-colored Robot outfit from Mortal Kombat 3. Just like the rest of the fights in this chapter, it is completely random if you get this fight or not. Even the timing of when you do get the fight in that series of fights is random. So if you haven't got to this fight, you have to try again until you get it.
This also raises the question if there's a Cyber Smoke skin for Smoke in MK1 (2023) that needs to be unlocked, or if it it will be added in the future. Regardless, this is indeed an awesome callback for the classic Arcade era of MK games, and once again, this is only one of many of surprises to come.
Check out my fight in the final chapter as Reptile against Cyber Smoke from my channel down below, enjoy:
