Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match Announced: Cast, Crew and Story

Warner Bros. Animation and Netherrealm Studios have just announced Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match the fourth animated film in, what can now only be called, the Mortal Kombat Legends animated films series. As such, this animated movie is a sequel to 2020 's Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, 2021’s Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms, and 2022’s Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind and is expected to be released later this year. Official Synopsis

Neon lights... Suits with shoulder pads... Jumping from explosions in slow motion... In 1980s Hollywood, action star Johnny Cage (Joel McHale) is looking to become an A-list actor. But when his costar, Jennifer (Jennifer Grey), goes missing from set, Johnny finds himself thrust into a world filled with shadows, danger, and deceit.

As he embarks on a bloody journey, Johnny quickly discovers the City of Angels has more than a few devils in its midst. He faces off against a sinister secret society plotting a nefarious scheme, but the brutal fight against the bloodthirsty warriors of the Netherrealm is just beginning.

Can Johnny, alongside other Kombat legends, save humanity...and, more importantly, his career?

With a characters list that includes Jonny Cage, Kia, Jataaka, Shinnok, Ashrah, Raiden and Master Boyd, we are definitely up for something that we have never seen before. With nods to Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Mortal Kombat: The Movie fans will hopefully get to experience characters that have been long missing and are probably unknown to a huge part of the Mortal Kombat fan base.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match continues the course, taken by its immediate predecessor, to center its story around a short list of popular characters who are surrounded by a less known supporting ones. The second group has the advantage of not being burden by a huge history with the franchise that requires a certain amount screen time and special treatment, also because of the huge expectations of the fans. In itself this allows the creators to introduce a fresh and original take on these characters and their story lines and also to scratch that itch that their fans have had for a long time.

We cannot wait to find out more about the movie and currently have only one question, where are Sareena and Quan Chi ?

I totally agree, if done right, this can be truly epic. I love the reduction of the characters it focuses on, this was a huge problem with the second movie, as you cannot do them all justice.

I will judge the results when I see them. Battle of the Realms was for me a huge missed opportunity for a story and characters that could have been amazing. Afterwards Snow Blind was a perfect return to form. So lets hope its more like that.
