Hi everyone,

by now you have all noticed that something is different with our forums. As we mentioned several weeks ago, we are in the middle of a large server migration and there are things that we simply need to do, including several updates to our software.

Please use this topic to post questions, report problems, state wishes or just give voice to your frustration

We will be working in the coming days to add several features, including the chat room, so please be patient with us.

The one thing that won't be coming back is the old layout, so we hope you said your goodbyes. We are sad to see it gone, but there is no way to get it back. However, we will adapt the color scheme of the new layout to better fit our website in the future.

One positive thing though, the forums are 100% mobile friendly

aww i liked the old layout it was awesome although i understand why its no longer able to come back will a new layout come out? and will it be mk11 layout?

You are not the only one, I liked it too. But it was extremely dated and as I mentioned no longer compatible.

As of right now you have the option of 4 different layouts, there is a quick select switch in the above right corner. These do not feature any customization as of right now. We are, at the moment, prioritizing functionality over visuals. The necessary updates resulted in a huge amount of content unable to render correctly, so we are currently taking care of that.

There will definitely be some customization in the future, what exactly I don't know.

Ideas and suggestions are always welcome. Also, if anyone wants to have a particular layout, just post it here and I will review it.

I just installed a Halloween style for the forums. Happy holiday to everyone celebrating.

Oh yes, it will. But right now we are to be honest much more excited about the possibilities and the flexibility of the new version of the forums. We have never had so much functions as right now and we haven't even started to dig deeper

All broken profile signatures have been fixed.

Lots of spam accounts and messages removed. Please report all suspicious messages.

We have just updated to the most recent version of phpBB. Please report any issues to me.

We have upgraded to the entire website to php8 which is giving us an almost 40% performance boost. Make sure to report any problems.

That's why I was logged out. Yes I can see the increased performance already!

The log out thing is a separate issue that I still need to deal with, its on my list as it still keeps happening.

But I am happy that the performance increase is noticeable. There have been several changes to our engine, that contribute here as well.

I am also struggling with figuring out a DB issue that blocks the site every once in a while, a real head scratcher.

How often does this happen?

For a while it happened very often with downtime of 5 to 20 minutes. After the move to php8 and configuring the DBMS to log deadlock and slow running statement, it hasn't happened once. This I don't like, because it means it is still there, just not presenting itself and I am an expert in multi threaded software development. So it is driving me crazy, but I will figure it out.

Update:
It happened when I tried to submit the above part. A lot of processes but none with queries and no deadlocks. It resolved on its own after 5 minutes. Something is going on.
