Decrypting Coalesced.ini?

Post by LeoNatan »

It seems the existing tools are unable to decrypt the Steam version's Coalesced.ini (and other files). Ironically, it was possible to decrypt the Switch files.

Here's a hoping the MK11 encryption key can be extracted soon.

hey there, i've had good luck decrypting both coalesced.ini and coalesced.eng on the switch version (early version, before the patch, thanks to someone on reddit). here are my decrypts of both of them:

however - i've also been told that the updated version is encrypted and nobody can do anything with it. so... this is the best we've got for now. i guess.

So, have they encrypted the "coalesced.ini" in a different way to it was before?

Using that tool the Coalesced.ini.decrypted is still unreadable. Can you suggest another method?

After you use this tool, it will give you an MKX ini, in which you can go to the MKX forums and download the MKX tool from there.

micko wrote:Hello thethiny,

I created a big guide on Steam and wanted to know if it was possible to have the file
Coalesced.ENG from the Localization folder (and maybe even FR, this is not obligatory). I tried to decrypt this file but impossible. I miss for example the part "History" of Kung Lao of the tower of character but one cannot restart and that will allow me to correct any errors. It will be really nice of you and it will help me a lot.
Thank you.
The tutorial to do that is in this thread

Strangely enough, there were quite a few people asking me how to do this recently (even from other forums).

I may create a tutorial for it, but I get the feeling that NRS is keeping an eye out for this forum and may change some things when they try to "obfuscate" their files, rendering our tutorials obsolete...

Alright, so as lots of people have asked for this in PMs, here's a tutorial on how to unpack/repack the Coalesced.* files. This makes use of tools that other people have created. These are not mine, but the process works.

Tools required:
Adapt the instructions below accordingly:
  • Use a temporary folder and extract the MKX tools and put the dfpslayer in the same folder.
  • Use dfpslayer to remove encrytion on the file Coalesced.* A new file called Coalesced.*.decrypted will be produced.
  • Move this file to the folder inside the MKX Coalesced Extract & Repack\Original folder. Rename the file by removing the decrypted suffix.
  • Execute the Extract.bat file and provide the extension of the file located in the Original Folder (ini, eng, or another extension).
  • The extraction using quickBMS will take place and the output will be in the Extract Folder.
  • Edit the files in the folders located within Extract. NOTE: Do not edit the Coalesced.* file inside this folder directly! Edit the other files.
  • Repack by doubleclicking on the Repack.bat file.
  • New Coalesced.* file will be produced in Output folder, ready to be used in MK11 already encrypted (the Repack.bat encrypts the file).
That's it. Have fun with it.

I know in MKX you can unlock skins and such with this, but what can you do in MK11?
