X-ray cancels

Can anyone tell me why an X-ray cancel is actually a good thing to do in matches? I was told theirs a legit reason but I don't know what it is.

What exactly do you mean with XRay Cancle? There are two things that pop in my head and I am not sure which one is in yours

You're about to do an X-ray but you hold the triggers, then you dash forward twice I think, and the X-ray is canceled out, it doesn't happen.

Haven't used that, but I guess one of the reasons for its existence would be to confuse your opponent causing a lot more damage if you play your cards right after that and manage to capture them off guard.

X-ray attacks can be canceled into from the same Normal Moves that can cancel into Special Attacks.
