The Most Underrated Game of the Franchise

Post by Gambid »

In my opinion Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero is the most underrated game of the entire franchise. It met mixed to negative critical response and a lot of fans did not like it. It didn't sell as good as it should.

The game itself is not without problems, but is definitely worth the time of every fan. So, what do you guys think?

I think as its title implied, the game expanded the Mythology of the MK series. Not your typical fighter release, but it was a very fun adventure to play. A lot of fans didn't like it, and to be honest, I can't understand why.

The fighting mechanic wasn't that fluid and the game was somehow to difficult for most people. Every single enemy was completely capable of draining your full health meter.

I guess those are part of the reasons.

The game was very fun to play  . The reason that most MK gamers considered it to be suckish, because the graphics were said to be outdated. That may be so, but it's all on the gameplay that matters. Still, the enemies would easily beat the crap out of you, so most of the time, I just jump over them.

That's right about the graphics. The world had moved to 3D by that time and considerate everything even remotely connected to 2D outdated. Thing change, don't they :D considering the latest MK game :D

I really enjoyed the cutscenes :)

I will give you that, the controls were not the best and the turning button was frustrating. However, I don;t think that you can play a video game and Smoke and/or drink at the same time without pausing.

true if it wasnt for the turning button this game would of been one the best fighitng platformer games during that time, personally I think the was the deal break of MK Sub Zero mythologies. I remember playing this game it just fusterated me so what i did was a cheat code and play ever level then did code to the fianl level and beat it so I can at least see each level and see the ending and cutscenes then sold the game

Oh yes, the cutscenes, Sareena looked "terrific" . Just to make sure, was that the same actress who play Sonya in MK3?

No, the actress who played as Sareena was the same who played Sindel from MK3, whose name was Lia Montelongo. However, Kerry Hoskins, the actress who played as Sonya from MK3, starred in MKM: SZ as Kia.

One of my favorite MK games of all time, before the super all time classic PS1 games came along this was my #1 on my PS1.

In fact since time has passed quite abit, just(and i mean close) behind MGS and the FF series this is MY top PS1 game.

And totally agree about it being underrated, hell i figured most (that arent MK diehards) never even heard of the game,or didnt care enough to remember it.

We will remind the world soon enough about its existence and its place in the History of the franchise.

After checking some videos, Id really like to play this game. Especially for the cutscenes.

The thing that really stands out is "glitchy" character and camera movement..

Haha, well im not sure exactly what you are reffering to as well, but (to me) this is a classic MK game (that i think) should be played by any hardcore MK fan,it is easy to get ahold of via online auction places (ebay/amazon and such) as well as some of the story elements are canon to the story of the original MK. (please correct me if i am wrong) :)

Of note, the game is very tough and at times could come across as being "cheap" and could be VERY irritating to the casual MK fan,but i am very confident in stating that if you can accomplish the entirety of this game(w/o cheats) you will be a considerably better MK player overall..;)
