The animation was cheesy, I felt I was watching a 50's show.

Gore and violence was exaggerated, then undermade, then exaggerated again.

And one minute. Only the Devil could do that. And don't say "but his name is devilman!!!!"
That just shows how cliche his name is.

if you are pure of heart and enter a ritual of the sabbath ( leaving all traces of humanity and rights) you will be overtaken by a demon , but if you are pure of heart you will take control of a demon , the boy in this takes over the demon AMON and becomes devilman.
