according to the official website, gimp has native dds support now:

there are a few additional options for viewing/editing dds files:

DDS and intel DDS are different. From what I've seen GIMP doesn't support BC7 which is the DDS used by MK games. You can open the files but can't save them in the proper format.

As for the other links, those work perfectly, especially the last one. Thanks for your contribution.
