Question about swapping mesh to characters of longer strings

Hi, everyone. I'd like to replace Tanya with Kitana. Since the string "TanyaDLC" is longer than "Kitana", I can't use the Renamer tool for it. Thanks to @Warrior, I found this tutorial:

I did everything accordingly and it works fine except when I trigger Tanya's X-Ray attacks or Teleport Skill the game crashes... I doubt it has to do with the vanishing particle effects and when I checked the .xxx file it still has a lot of "kitana" references. I tried to replace it with "TanyaDLC" in HEX Editor but of course it won't work since the file size is extended.

Not sure what to do now...

P.S. The forum doesn't allow attachments of xxx files.

Okay, I repeat the process with Cassie Cage, and it worked smoothly. No crashes. It still contains some "kitana" strings but that doesn't have an effect though. Might be about the DLC characters?

Use my Package Appendor, it works for renaming longer strings.

But the tutorial I referred to incorporated your Package Appendor. Not sure if it was the latest version though. When was your last update of that tool?

The tool works for MKX v 0.0.0.0.0.1 to MKXL

I tried it with other non-DLC characters without problems. But when it comes to Tanya, it crashes every time I trigger X-Ray attacks.

It might be the mko. Try NOT replacing the MKO.

OHHHH WAIT!

TANYA USES "TANYA.MKO" NOT "TANYADLC.MKO" That's why you're having problems!!! Rename Tanya.Mko to kitana.mko. But that won't easily work that's why.

I didn't find the "Tanya.mko". There are "Tanya_A.mko", "CHAR_TanyaDLC_A.mko" and a "CHAR_TanyaDLC_M.mko". Of course, I used your Costume Adder v2 to add an alternate costume for swapping.

Renamed it, didn't work.

Then I have no clue, it has to be some asset missing. Search for Tanya_Xray in the Assets folder, maybe it'd be why?

Just wondering, how does this work with npcs? For example, the npc tanya has Tanya_A, but without the CHAR_ prefix. If I want to put her mesh over sonya, how do I account for the fact that sonya has the CHAR_ prefix?
