And a Photoshop Action to make things even faster, Thanks to mrs53360 Tutorial:
0.0. Use Gildor's Decompression tool
* (Drag the CHAR_File of your choice to the decompress.exe)
0.1. Drop decompressed package (only one at a time) in "input" folder
1. Run 1_export.bat
After that you will find textures in "texture" folder and mipmaps in "texture\MIPS"
----editing part
-Edit any of them.
IMPORTANT: Do not change file names and do not add other files!
Delete all unnecessary files that you won't edit to save time;
If you look for the textures of your character, you're looking for a file that will have the name and the word "Diff"
Extra: In case you want to edit the eyes you'll want to keep the files that ends with "EyesMouth_Diff" (on both folders "texture" - "MIPS")
Like this: After Erasing Unnecesary files You'll open it up on Photoshop, and edit them as you want.
After done, you'll go to the MIPS folder and look for the files that have the same name, (Numbers at the beggining doesn't count) After Erasing Unnecesary files Now you have to open all of them in photoshop from the smallest size to the biggest, and after that, your main edited texture (from the "Texture" folder) at the top of all Here's where the "MKX" Photoshop Action comes up,
Click the mmx9 action and hit the little "play" button Photoshop will do the rest from there, (but basically grabs your edited main texture and inserts it on the other files that have different sizes, and save them.)
----end of editing part
*******************************************************************
----injecting
-Open "scripts\inject.bms" in notepad and edit PKName value
(e.g. string PKName = "char_kitana_m" for string PKName = "CHAR_Mileena_C")
2. Run 2_inject.bat
If your GPU does not DirectCompute compatible you will have to wait
till [[[[[[[[texture compression completed]]]]]]]] quite long.
(e.g. one 2048x2048 texture is about 1hour on AMD Athlon II x3 440 3.00GHz)
When compression is done check "output" folder
-You can edit another texture and repeat injection at any time.
----end of injecting
But if you run 1_export.bat again, all textures will be restored to original.
3. Run z_clean.bat (optional step)
Reset toolset. Wipe all modded and input files(except output\PKName.XXX)
