What type of mod is this?

So I was looking for different mods to download, and I found an interesting Kitana mod for her primary costume where she is unmasked and her hair is different. She also has the laces on the top part of her outfit gone, so I was wondering how this person achieved this, and what modding method I can use to do this. Here is the example of the mod.

AFAIR the mod was called Costume destruction mod, Kitana was unfinished. There are also Sonya & Jade in this pack. It was made by changing the meshes (mesh mod).
