I am taking care of the spam topics, the spambots and all of you, who have broke a rule and thought that it will go unseen.

I am sorry for getting angry at Tower, but I just get so annoyed at him always insulting me! But most of all, sorry Gambid, for breaking a rule.

For the people who are interested in the spambot situation, here is a quick update.

I have just added to the list of banned e-mail servers more than 300 new addresses. I hope that this will keep the spambots away for awhile.

I have an idea. But we all have to cooperate. Basically, if someone stores a server that automatically deletes post icons and we dont use them, all spambots will be deleted.

Why? coz all spambots use post icons.

In my site MK Genesis which holds the latest version of IPB,i.e,the most recent one, which me & my friends paid 150$ for(seriously),i discovered a few ways to prevent spambot attacks,as i've had a lot of spambot attacks so early when it was made.and i mean a LOT.

The best way in my opinion is to enable User Validation by Admins alone. Also, almost all of the spambots use e-mails that DON'T even EXIST. But they all use the SAME IP. Hence,an IP ban would work as well. Admin User Validation provides safer security as well.

Then again,MKS has an older\different version of IPB,i don't know if some of the features even exist in this one, since mine looks even more complicated than vBulletin itself.

This version has everything.
We are currently on e-mail validation, which means that the spambots cannot register with fake e-mail.
We also have GD Images activated, which means that spambots cannot register at all.
Therefore a human is registering them.

Ah,That explains it...

But still... How come - So many bots,so many messages, and that too typing very fast.

Also,i've seen quite a few spambots with REAL e-mail addresses.

And Admin user validation won't help, since most of the staff are busy and many users won't be able to register.

We might have to go deeper into this situation... It's a real toughie.

What's the current version again?

i think gambid meant a human uses valid emails to register the bots so they can spam if you know what i mean. people get dumber , bots get smarter

That was it.
Even with all filters and with all available protections active the spambots keep registering.
So I was forced to delete 3, 4 spambots a day and admit it, I cannot ban the entire yahoo and hotmail :(

I have to admit something I hate to lose. So I used my last and probably strongest weapon. I activated Admin Validation.

So, from now on you won't see any spambots around.

Unfortunately as side effect all new members will have to wait a little bit (1 - 24 hours) until I verify and activate their accounts.

These are the spambots who tried to register during the last hour:

Bizzeree
gizz@ukrop.net

gangbang
sefasamed@hotmail.com

jawadhamid4lyfe
jawad_4lyfe@yahoo.com

and they would have succeeded because their e-mail addresses are real and are not part of the spam filters.
