OK, here is a small Tutorial. It will help you start making Mortal Kombat 4 skins:

Step 1: First, copy your filesys.dat in the directory of MK4Strip.
Step 2: Double click on BEGIN.BAT. The information is being extracted from filesys.dat and put in the RAW directory.
Step 3: Double click on CONTINUE.BAT. This will convert all files into well known formats. These will be placed in the VIEW directory for 3DModels and Textures and in the WAV directory for the sound files. This will probably take a while. Don't close the window, it will close itself when done.
Step 4: Now open and edit the textures you want with an image editing tool (PhotoShop, Gimp, Paint... ).
Note: Only 256*256 TrueColor BMPs are supported!
Step 5: Put the edited file in the VIEW directory and replace the original one.
Step 6: Use Command Prompt (StartMenu --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Command Prompt) to start BMP2GFX.BAT. With it you can convert the edited BMP files back to their original GFX format. Use bmp2gfx filename.bmp to convert a file. The new file will automatically replace the old one in the RAW directory.
Step 7: Finally double click on COMPILE.BAT to build the new filesys.dat. The old one will be autamotically backed up.
Step 8: Copy the new filesys.dat file in the Mortal Kombat 4 directory and replace the old one.
Step 9: Start the game.
Step 10: Have Fun.

File comment: This extended version contains additional tools such as ASE23D, FND-OBJ, STRIPE, STRIPE3D, TRANSP. You don't need these if you only want to create skins. They might help you if you are interested in remodeling 3D Objects.

Hi! I've tried to make skins but I couldn't. Can you explain the part of the conversion from bmp2gfx? Because I don't know exactly how to use DOS prompt and I couldn't do it. Thanks

Open Command Prompt and use the following command to access the directory where the program is:

cd YourDiretory

Then just perform the second half of Step 6.

It will not work only if you do something work.
So try everything step by step once again.

Gambid,I Need To Know One Thing,we decompile the files,we click on continue.bat,then we edit the files,then we recompile it,right?then what are these two .bats for-GEO-All,GFX-All.We Can replace the raw file using bmp2gfx,then why do we need the GEO-ALL.BAT And GFX-ALL.BAT?Are They Required?

No, I have WindowsXP myself. You are simply doing something wrong.
GEO-ALL.BAT and GFX-ALL.BAT just convert all GEO/GFX files.
You usually don't need those two.

I think that the configuration could be inadequate. This is:

@echo off
if +%1+==++ goto err
..\mk4s bmp2gfx %1
goto cont
:err
echo The usage is: bmp2gfx r723-1.bmp
:cont

That is. Can you say if it is wrong?

Oh yes there is.
It is in the main directory, where you extract the archive.
