3D Modification Tutorial

Sorceror,the creator of MK4Strip and MK4Enhanced,posted this tutorial.it's for the program,alter3d.get the program from the mk4strip download at Mortal Kombat Schweiz.i will post the link the link later.Here's the tutorial,plz pin topic:

0. You can convert only models with ONE texture (fighters) but NOT stages or
something.

1. Convert the GEO file to RAX. BUT!!! For fighters use command
"geo2obj rXXX.geo allinone"
ex. geo2obj r008.geo allinone

2. You will get the file r008-00.rax. Open it in 3D Exploration.
There are no textures - it is OK.

3. In 3D Expl. select File\Save As... and save as r008.obj.

4. Run 3D Studio MAX. And import the r008.obj into it.
Open material editor and open "MAPS" rollover. Click on "Diffuse Color" and
then "bitmap". Select the texture (r008-0.bmp will do OK). Assign material to
selection. If you do not assign material you will not be able to convert to
GEO!

5. Modify the model (Smooth for example).

6. Select "File\Export" in 3DS Max. Select ASCII (*.ASE).
On the ASCII Export Dialog switch to on the following:
Mesh definition, Materials, Geomteric, Mesh Normals, Mapping Coordinates.
Save as "r008.ase".

7. Edit the HRA-file for your export model. Sample file for r008.ase is in
distribution pack. This HRA file is just an enumeration of object names with
a plus ("+") before each name.
BUT!!! The first 3 lines are important (*GROUP,*SUBGROUP,*ANIOBJ).
Do not modify them!!!

8. Run ASE23D. Input filename should be "r008.ase". Press "Go!"

9. Run "stripe3d.exe" and wait.

10. You will get the "r000.geo". Rename it to "r008.geo" and recompile the DAT.

how can i contact sorceror the creator of mkstrip?

i've been trying out the mkstrip tools and they work great except for a major glitch.

after i export the models from 3ds max (even if the model is untouched just for testing) with ascii scene export and then use te ase23d tool provided in the mkstrip/enhanced pack
and compile the new filesys and run mk4 (with the patched .exe)
the following glitch occurs: all the body parts of the player model are not positioned corectly

as i can tell the problem is somewhere in the conversion process of the ase23d+stripe3d tools .

i am using 3ds max 2010 so i was thinking that maybe the .ase (ASCII scene export) is a newer version and maybe something goes wrong in the export process

i've been spending the last 3 days trying to solve this instead of using my energy to model new players or stages .
i've been working with 3dsmax for years now and i could create some great players and stages.

so does anyone know how to fix this? or can anyone tell me how to contact sorceror?

Lord Scorpion hasn't been online since 2009. I doubt he is going to make a video tutorial.

hey, I can't execute ANY of those programs (I have windows 7 professional), are an yother programs (less obsolet) for editting those 3d models?

Hi. This is a grate instruction-list! I'm a musician, but I like modelling in 3D too. I download the mk4 strip and I made new textures and sounds. But I can't modelling new figures becouse I don't find a registered 3D Exploration anywhere. Can somebody tells me how can I get the 3D Exploration program (any version) whit its registry key?

Oh, by the way, and how can I programming new moves to the figures, if it is possible?

3D Exploration is a very old program and as far as I can remember it is no longer being developed. There might still be some trial versions flying around the internet, like here: http://www.fileplanet.com/57248/50000/f ... -1.7-Trial

As for replacing/editing model for the game. I am not really sure, whether MK4Strip supports it. As a matter of fact I thing it does not. You can only change textures and sounds. You can also replace models with already existing ones.
