Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) Close to 3 000 000 Sold Copies

GamSpot has reported that Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) has already sold close to 3 000 000 copies. Martin Tremblay, president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment had the following thing to say:

With the launch of Mortal Kombat, we have already paid for the acquisition of the Midway assets, and we are just beginning to leverage this acquisition with much more to come.

Congratulations to Netherrealm Studios for this success. We can't wait to see what is coming next!

Im pretty sure that it sold good cuz it came back to its simple 2D roots, and I love it. I actually stopped playing MK after UMK3. The 3D era was a disaster (for me) and im pretty sure as well for other gamers. Keep up the good work NR.

A few examples could be: Comic books, Movies, TV Series, The Arcade Collection which has already been announced and probably DLCs.

Until March 2011, Street Fighter 4 has 3.1 million copies sold, Super Street Fighter 4 1.3 millions. So yes.

sheesh off topic here,but whats with Street Fighter making so many editions just for one part? For example: They make SF4 and weeks later, make Super SF4 ultra mega awesome edition, eh?

back to topic, I expect MK9 to sell more copies soon, and I hope that MK would outsell MK. I just hope that they get it done before I get my own copy on Black Friday .

Yep, Mortal Kombat 9 is really selling incredibly well. I think Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe has sold a little bit more than 2 000 000 copies.
