AT&T Offically Buys WB and All of It's Assests, Including MK

Post by Roy Arkon »

Huge news just came out today. As it appears, the massive cell phone company, AT&T, has officially purchased Time Warner for 85.4 Billion Dollars, which means that soon, all of the assets that are controlled by Time Warner, will now belong to AT&T. This includes WBIE, the video game division of Time Warner, which includes Netherrealm Studios, as well as the two franchises developed by them, Mortal Kombat and Injustice, and that division is one of WB's most profitable divisions.

Of course that doesn't mean that either MK or Injustice or gonna be negatively affected by the merger of the two titans in huge way, as once again, WBIE is extremely profitable. There might be some really small pieces of content from the games being delisted, like the Freddy Kruger Character DLC for Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) from PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and Steam due to the new rights holders reevaluate contracts, but even then it will probably be just temporarily. This also might lead to an affect of retro games published by WB on those services like Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, although not necessarily in a bad way, either.

As far as it seems, it looks like that both Mortal Kombat and Injustice are safe, while this merger will probably have a much larger impact on franchises from WB, like the Lego Games. We will see what this leads to. Maybe we will see some really good stuff for MK and Injustice, we can only hope.
