New Line Cinema
Mr. Shaye,
I am writing in request of information of New Line Cinema and it's ownership
of the Mortal Kombat franchise. New Line was responsible for distribution of
Mortal Kombat and its sequel Mortal Kombat 2: Annihilation. It has recently
come to light in many press materials such as Game Informer magazine as well
as various online newsboards that a third script has been penned. The writer
is none other than Mr. Drew McWeeny. He has written a statement stating the
project has been in limbo since 2001, and Threshold Entertainment is
currently sorting out legal issues. I am not asking for confidential
information, but does Mortal Kombat 3 appear on the slate for New Line
Cinema...or is Threshold doing it with another company? Does New Line still
have active rights to the franchise? There are many unanswered questions and
if you can clear them up for me and others, it would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I noticed your cameo in Freddy vs. Jason. Unfortunately it
wasn't as long as y!
our stint in New Nightmare, but fairly notable never the less. Please write
back when you get the chance.
Sincerely,
Anthony Maurizio
