First of all megatron187 you have to learn some Dos commands:

cd directory name - enter directory
For example

C:\
C:\>cd Mortal Kombat II
You are now in
C:\Mortal Kombat II\>
If your game is here, type
C:\Mortal Kombat II\>MKII.exe

cd.. - go to parent directory

dir - shows the content of the curent directory
md directory name - creates new directory

I still don't agree that the problem comes from the command prompt. I played MKII in Win98 mode without any problems.

there's no matter if the file is .exe or .bat, he must just type the name of the file and prompt will automaticaly detect exe or bat file with the same name and start it. mk2.exe => mk2; mk2.bat => mk2...

Hi guys thanks for all the help. Well I'm half way there. I got the game going on command prompt mode. The game runs good, but now I have another problem I can't get the sound or music to play. I changed the sound option to sound blaster and all the other sound options on the MKII F10 screen but nothing comes on. I also changed the DMA IRQ(I can't remember what they were called but you guys know what I mean there right below the sound option in the F10 screen) and still nothing. I have MK 1 for my Pc and I always play that one without having to use dos. When I play MK 1 I have the sound option set to sound blaster and music and sound come out no problem the game works perfect, but for the heck of it I tryed playing Mk 1 on the command prompt it boots the game up and I have the same problem I do with MK II no sound no music. I have the have the sound option set on sound blaster and nothing comes out, but when I play the game without using dos the music and sound come out fine. I have no idea what's wrong. One time on MK 1, I was using command prompt, and I was just hitting buttons on the keyboard trying to get the music and sound on and i hit F2 and player 2 came in on the character selection screen and there was sound but no music. I messed around tying to get the music on I reset the game and tryed again the sound was still there and I hit F2 again and some glitchy sound came out the speakers and the sound was gone . So I have no idea what's wrong. I tryed the MK I game again without using dos and music and sound is all there. So I'm stumped. I still don't know what to type in to run the game on MS Dos. On command prompt it says C:\ and I just type in cd MK2 and then another C:\>MK2\ comes up and I just type in MK2 and boom the game boots up. But with MS DOS it says C:\windows\> and I tryed typing in MK2 I tryed typing dir\Mk2 nothing. I even typed in Mk2.exe it bring up a bunch of stuff but then it just comes back to C:\windows\> so I don't know what to type in. Maybe if I play the game on MS DOS maybe there will be sound and music I don't know, but I don't know why there is no sound or music when I use the Command prompt mode. Please reply anybody! Please help!

In MS-DOS mode type

cd..
and then
cd mk2 or what it was

About the sound, I am not sure, maybe the Command Prompt can't find you Sound card.

megatron187, find dir where your sb is installed and type this location in your autoexec.bat (you can edit this file in dos mode by using the command -edit-), after that when you start your pc in dos mode you will have your sb detected!
