question about fatalities

ok so you will know that most fatalities are available in the krypt to unlock.. but the question I have is... unlocking these fatalities in the krypt does that unlock the fatality? or is it just the code? because u can pretty much get all the codes off the net...
do u have to unlock a fatality to make it work?
also the dlc codes for fataliies are they simply just codes which can be available on the net?

You can perform the Fatalities even without unlocking them.

Unlocking them means that they will be added to your moves list.
