GameSpot: Sheeva Trading Kard Video
Posted On: Sep 30 2006, 06:57 AM

GameSpot has posted the Trading Kard Video of Sheeva. It contains an interesting behind the scenes part from her creation for Mortal Kombat 3:

A female of the four-armed Shokan race, Sheeva once served as protector of Queen Sindel. As brutal as Goro and Kintaro, she possesses more than enough power to destroy any opponent unfortunate enough to cross her path.

IGN: Four New Mortal Kombat: Armageddon Videos
Posted On: Sep 28 2006, 08:35 PM

IGN posted four new Mortal Kombat: Armageddon videos. Two of them show Motaro's and Frost's Trading Kards, which will be part of the Limited Edition. The other two are Kreate A Fatality video and what will probably ne the TV Spot:

As leader of Shao Kahn's extermination squads, Motaro proved to the emperor the Centaurs' superiority over the Shokan. During the invasion of Earthrealm, he slew many kombatants before they could oppose Shao Kahn's rule. He will slay many more in the battle to come.

A student of Lin Keui Grandmaster Sub-Zero, Frost is a formidable young warrior. Her powers of cryomancy are extremely advanced for one so young. Headstrong and driven, her abilities are eclipsed only by her overconfidence.

MKGold Combo Video Vol. 2
Posted On: Sep 19 2006, 07:18 AM

An extremely awesome, loaded to the gills, Mortal Kombat Gold combo video has been released by MKK (MKKompetitive) based in Venezuela. It's over 12 minutes of devastation, with and without Maximum Damage activated. This is what the game would be like if there was no Maximum Damage, and it's scarey.

Check it out here (copy and paste): www.ultimatemk.com/combovids/mkgoldvol2.divx

It is a *100 meg* Divx file, so make sure you're updated with your codec.

The video features combos: Hanzo_Hasashi, ded_, and Frozen Worm.

New Insane MK2 Combo Video
Posted On: Sep 16 2006, 01:03 PM

Exclusive release from UltimateMK.com

Over a year of collective effort, gathering combos, putting it on the back burner, refining combos, etc. It is finally here. For the past week Shock have been putting together what hopefully MKII fans will consider as the "be all end all" of MKII combo videos. Most of the comboing was done by ded_ umk(pyskosonik from MKO), with featured combos from Shock, Konqrr, ChaiN, and DreemerNJ. All combos were performed on MKII ver. 3.1 Arcade, and no codes were used other than infinite health and no time limit.

The video includes over 70 combos, a significant portion of which are 100%s. The video is 52 megs, wmv 8.

To watch the vid copy and paste: ultimatemk.com/combovids/mk2skom.wmv

IGN: Mortal Kombat: Armageddon Progress Report
Posted On: Sep 15 2006, 01:26 PM

IGN has posted a two page preview of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon which focusses on the changes that have been made since the E3 version of the game. As an addition to the article they also posted 8 new gameplay videos of Arcade, Konquest and Motor Kombat Modes. From the article:

As the name implies, Armageddon will be the culmination of the franchise and the largest MK title to date, with a grand total of 62 playable characters taken from previous titles. One significant design change that had been made shortly after E3 was the decision to make almost all of the fighters available at the outset of the game. To this end, 58 characters will be initially selectable, which should allows fans a chance to set up their dream matches with their favorite characters while still holding onto the classic unlockable reward scheme that the franchise is known for. At first glance, it can feel somewhat overwhelming, particularly for players who know the MK universe well, because you are presented with a massive roster to choose from. However, Boon helped to point out the arrangement of the fighters on the select screen: male fighters are arranged across the top four rows of the select screen, while the female fighters take the two smaller rows beneath them. Bringing up the final two rows are the more "monstrous" characters of the series, so characters like Baraka and Drahmin share company with larger brutes and boss characters like Moloch and Goro.
...
When players choose to step away from the arcade or versus section of the game, there's plenty of other modes that they check out. The Konquest mode, which has been a popular mode amongst MK fans, returns in Armageddon with a brand new story and presentation for the game. Players take on the role of Taven, a half-god from Edenia who is placed into suspended animation along with his brother Daegon by his parents. While the two siblings believe this is to determine who will ascend the throne, it's actually to protect them from Shao Kahn. Over the course of the mode, players will discover that there's actually a lot more to the story than initially thought, as well as the place that Taven plays with the upcoming cataclysmic fight between realms.
...
Speaking of unlocking things, the Krypt returns in Armageddon with a new presentation: the graveyard theme that accompanied Deception and Deadly Alliance has been abandoned for unlockable items displayed upon the walls of the Krypt. The various Koin denominations have been abandoned as well in favor of one unified koin that can be redeemed for artwork, music, costumes and other hidden elements. However, Boon pointed out, unlike previous titles, you won't be forced to do obscure things to unlock everything in the Krypt; everything will inevitably be available if you collect enough koins and pay for it. He also pointed out that there will be mystery Kodes that will slowly be released that players will have the chance to enter for additional Koins or secrets. Fortunately, if you don't feel like waiting or discovering these kodes, you'll be able to obtain extra koins for particularly brutal fights in the arcade game, collecting them through the Konquest mode, or potentially acquiring them through the latest diversion, Motor Kombat.

Posted On: Sep 15 2006, 12:50 PM
