1Up.Com Preview
Posted On: Jan 31 2005, 11:21 AM
1Up.com now have their preview of Mortal Kombat: Deception
with an exclusive screenshots. From the article.
For the first time since Mortal Kombat sequels
stopped having numbers attached to them, Deception on GameCube includes
four-armed beast Goro and notorious boss Shao Kahn as playable
characters. Even better, both characters are selectable right from the
beginning, so players won't have to spend long amounts of time with the
game before they get to try out the new additions.
Another change to the character selection is that six of the characters
that are by default locked away on the PS2 and Xbox versions are now
available for play right from the beginning, so Noob Smoke and Havik
fans won't have to unlock those characters to use them. While unlocking
players through the Konquest Mode on PS2 and Xbox presented a fun
experience, it also presented quite a challenge for players who wanted
to unlock characters as quickly as possible, as it was a slow process,
so the new character select screen presents a more accessible roster
from the get-go.

Mortal Kombat Goes Plug-and-Play
Posted On: Jan 14 2005, 10:38 AM
IGN published the following article:
January 12, 2005 - Jakks Pacific's TV Games
series continues to dominate the toy store shelves, seeing incredible
success during the holiday with plug-and-play devices licensed by Atari,
Namco, Activision, and even the World Poker Tour. Last year the company
revealed a licensing agreement with Midway, and in 2005 the first
product out of that deal will come to market: Mortal Kombat.
Mortal Kombat TV Games will be a self-contained unit based on the
original arcade game's upright control panel in a control-pad form. This
battery-powered device simply plugs into any TV or VCR with video/audio
inputs, offering an accurate version of the original 1990 arcade hit
Mortal Kombat without the need for a gaming console.
Two of these units can be linked together for one-on-one fights, and the
internal memory chip will record high score standings, just like the
original arcade unit. Jakks Pacific promises that the version of Mortal
Kombat in this controller will be completely unedited, featuring the
same blood and fatalities the series is known for.
Mortal Kombat TV Games currently does not have a release date, but it's
expected to ship in the first half of this year for $19.99.
Part of the article are also a few screenshots.

Goro Lives!!!
Posted On: Jan 1 2005, 07:52 PM
His first appearance was in the
original Mortal Kombat almost 13 years ago. He is one of the most
beloved characters. He is half Human, half Dragon. He is more then 2000
years old. He is Goro, prince of Shokan and champion of
Mortal Kombat for 500 years.
Soon we will see Goro in the GameCube version of Mortal
Kombat: Deception. Here is a picture of him, that comes from the
cover of the Nintendo Power Magazine.
