Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance - Mini Games

Almost every single Mortal Kombat game has one or sometimes even more mini games, that are either regular part of the gameplay (like in Mortal Kombat 1) or just a hidden secret. We have witnessed some of the classic games in the history of the game industry being a part of Mortal Kombat games. To mention hare are titles like Pong from Mortal Kombat II and Galaga from Mortal Kombat 3.

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance marks the return of the very first Mortal Kombat mini game, Test Your Might, and expands this concept with a second one, called Test Your Sight.

Test Your Might

The Mini Game that started it all. The first version of Test Your Might appeared in 1992 with the release of the arcade version of the original Mortal Kombat. Its reappearance in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance is one of the ways for the team to tell the world, that this new Mortal Kombat game is going to take over the gamers the same way Mortal Kombat 1 did, back in 1992.

The concept of Test Your Might is pretty simple. By rapidly pressing a few buttons as fast as possible you are trying to collect enough strength to break an object.

Breaking different objects, mostly wood, is part of a lot of martial arts, including Karate, Tae Kwon Do. But Test Your Might takes this to a whole new level of object. Bricks, metal objects, even ruby and even diamonds are present when you reach higher difficulty level. In Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance Test Your Might rewards you with Onyx and Platinum koins which are the hardest to get in the game.

Difficulty level - Reward 3D Version - Reward GBA Version

Bamboo - 100 - 10
Coal - 150 - 25
Oak - 200 - 50
Brick - 250 - 75
Redwood - 300 - 100
Marble - 350 - 125
Iron - 400 - 150
Diamond - 450 - 250

Test Your Sight

In addition to Test Your Might a brand new mini game, called Test Your Sight, was created. This new incarnation of the mini game concept takes it in a whole new direction, demanding from the player not the destruction of the controller, but a huge amount of concentration.

The idea behind the game is far less brutal. Basically, you must follow the movement of 3 to 6 cups. Beneath each of them is an object and one of them hides the MK dragon logo. At the beginning you see where the logo is hidden.

By following the movement of the cups you must point at the one that has it at the end. The reward is either Onyx or Platinum koins. The GameBoy Advance version of the game has cups, all of them but one filled with poison.
