Did Injustice 2 Have Brutalities?

by Roy Arkon on Mar 2, 2022 :: 6
As you know, Mortal Kombat XL reintroduced the Brutalities as mid-match condition-based Finishers, rather than the long combo-based ones that they were in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and then they were brought back in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. However, did you know that Injustice 2 also had Brutalities, or at least they were planned to be included there?

As discovered by a YouTuber named Ermaccer, IJ2 had a few, hidden and scrapped Brutalities for 3 characters: Aquaman, Supergirl and Superman, all whom were included in the roster for the IJ2 beta, which means that these were originally planned to be in the game, but then the whole idea was scrapped before the game's release, and these Brutalities were remain hidden in the game's files all along.

As you can see in the video below, Aquaman's Brutality is just leftovers of it that only include Aquaman's winning pose and the opponent's final defeat animation. Supergirl's Brutality, while also remain in leftovers form, can be "manually" billed together again, as it is clear that the opponent's final defeat animation of that Brutality, in which the opponent remains stuck with his/her head and torso in the ground, is supposed to be attached to Supergirl's throw, in which Supergirl throw the opponent high into the sky, causing them to land on the ground, headfirst. And finally, we have Superman's Brutality, which is the most complete one, with the opponent, or at least Deadshot (as he is the one shown in the video), having reaction voice to it. In this Brutality, Superman shoots the opponent 3 times with his Heat Vision, causing the opponent to fall to the ground, seemingly killing the opponent.

As shown with both Brutalities from Superman and Supergirl, it's very clear that these Brutalities were planned to look like the Heroic Brutalities from Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe, as they are indeed Brutal, but not necessarily fatal like the Mortal Kombat Fatalities or Brutalities. It will be interesting to know why these Brutalities were scrapped from the final game, as the idea of IJ2 having this feature is a pretty big deal. In the words of Atom from IJ2: "What a remarkable discovery"! :mrgreen:

All we can do now is wait and see if NetherRealm Studios and/or WB Games ever tell us the answer to this question.

Check out the video from Ermaccer right here, enjoy.

Was Cyber-Smoke Being Revealed For MK11U By WB Games?

by Roy Arkon on Feb 8, 2022 :: 3
The official WB Games UK & Ireland Twitter page has posted a fun little Tweet in which in they ask the followers which of Kotal Kahn's Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate they think is more brutal. However, what really caught people's eyes weren't the Fatalities themselves, but which character the Fatalities were executed on, and that character was none other than the grey male Ninja and Lin Kuei warrior, Smoke, particularity in his Cyber-Smoke version. As we all know, not only that Smoke isn't playable in MK11U, but he never appears in the game in his Cyber-Smoke version at all, yet he does appear in his Human-Smoke form both via Shang Tsung's transformations and also in Rain's Power Washer Fatality.

As of posting these news, the Tweet has been taken down. However, UnCagedGamez managed to catch the Tweet right in time and gave his own speculation on the matter, claiming that this is either just a a model for Smoke for MK11U that never got released to the public, a fan-made mod that NetheRealm Studios and WB Games have put in MK11U just for fun, or maybe that this is a tease for Cyber-Smoke making it to Mortal Kombat 12. Check out the video below:

Author's opinion: Obviously, Smoke isn't playable in MK11U, and he's not gonna be playable as it has been confirmed that MK11U support is done, but there is no way that this Cyber-Smoke model would be used just for fun. And it also can't be a mod either, one it was the last time that any gaming developer and/or publisher has used a fan-made mod just for show? And yes, I'm aware that it looks like a recolored version of Sektor (who is in MK11U's story mode as an NPC) and it uses the voice of RoboCop (who is voiced by Peter Weller), but if this thing was truly a mod, NRS/WB would never use it. I do have my guess on the matter though, and that this is Cyber-Smoke from an undiscovered secret fight in MK11U. As we reported last week, there are still some undiscovered secrets no only in MK11U, but also in Mortal Kombat XL and Injustice 2, and this could be very well be one of those undiscovered secrets, being a secret fight in MK11U that we are yet to discover on our own, and WB Games just teased it for us. And because that this is used for a secret fight, re-using assests such as model of another character after recoloring it plus another character's voice wouldn't be too much of a problem for them to do. I mean, remember all of the secret fights in Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) against Reptile, Noob Saibot, Jade and Human-Smoke? All of the secret fights in that game are against character who essentially re-using assets and mixing them all up, which means that NRS/WB can easily do it this time as well, which in my opinion debunks the fan-made mod argument as well. Whatever the case may be, we might never know for sure what this truly is, but maybe we will. All we can do right now is wait, and if we thing, figure this one out.

More Undiscovered Secrets In Both MKXL And MK11U?

by Roy Arkon on Feb 1, 2022 :: 0
A few days ago, we informed you about the highly potential Reptile Easter Egg in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, and now it seems that there are even more hidden, undiscovered secrets that we might have never thought up about until now.

Back in October of 2020, NetherRealm Studios developer Aaron Davis, AKA Dizzy, stated on Twitter that there is something that he put in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate since day 1, and he gave the hint that it's supposed to be done during a match, yet it hasn't been discovered to this day, or at least wasn't shared by anyone who found it if it has been found. A few months before that, the Thiny, a member of the Mortal Kombat community who is known for being involved in datamining, allegedly found that there is a secret fight in the Klassic Tower Arcade mode in MK11U, which also wasn't found in-game yet, and of course we don't if it's the same thing that Dizzy was talking about or if those are two separated things. That secret fight though, is allegedly as Reptile secret fight, which might explain even further why Reptile isn't playable in MK11U, if such fight does exist of course. And to make things even more foggy, even if you try to mod MK11U, you still can't trigger these secrets, whatever are they might be.

Now these are old news, but the topic has been brought up again. That's because that another NRS developer, Stephanie Brownback, AKA 16-Bit from the NRS Kombat Kasts, has posted on Reset Era last week that there are hidden things and Easter Eggs in MK11U that nobody has discovered yet. This of course can be related to not only the potential Reptile Easter Egg or the Arcade mode secret fight, but also other things such as the gong in Shang Tsung's Courtyard in MK11U's Krypt (not to be confused with the gong behind the Warrior Shrine, that's a different gong that is used to summon the meteor into the Warrior Sharine). But it gets even better. In that same Reset Era thread, 16-Bit mentioned that there are things that haven't been discovered yet not just in MK11U, but also in Mortal Kombat XL and even Injustice 2. So even after all of those years, MKXL and IJ2 both still have undiscovered secrets in them, in addition to MK11U.

Check out the full breakdown on the matter from Dynasty in the video below:

Author's opinion: I'm especially more shocked about the MKXL revelation from 16-bit, especially that I myself did a ton of work trying to figure secrets or even just updates/changes about them in the game, both for the Living Towers, Brutalities and Easter Eggs, with the most notable one being the Cyber Sub-Zero Triborg secret fight in the Who's Next Tower. I have no idea where we can even begin the research for any of these games, but if anyone can find anything concrete and legit, it would be very much appriciated.

A Hidden Reptile Easter Egg In MK11U (Double Standard)?

by Roy Arkon on Jan 27, 2022 :: 0
The Mortal Kombat franchise is very well known for it's huge amount of secrets and Easter Eggs that were hidden across all of the games in the series. And it seems that yours truly might have just found another one in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. And no, I'm not talking about Reptile's cameo in MK11U's Krypt that was already discovered since day 1, I'm talking about a completely different Easter Egg, although it is related to the Krypt in another MK game.

It turns out that in the far left corner of the Prehistoric Age version of the Hourglass Stage, there are several round objects that look like eggs. According to Reptile's Past, which is an Extra that can be found in the Krypt in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, the Saurian Race, which is the Race that Reptile comes from, originated from Earthrealm during the time of the dinosaurs, as documented by archives of the Vampire Race which Nitara comes from, before they had to flee to the Realm of Zaterra due to the godly battle between Raiden and Shinnok that caused the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs from Earthrealm.

A Hidden Reptile Easter Egg In MK11U - Double Standard

Since that this stage takes place in the dinosaurs era, this could very well mean that those eggs are actually Saurian Race eggs, with one of them maybe even the one Reptile hatched from. Yes, MKDA and MK11U have been occurred in 2 separated timelines, but there are some events and details that are universal across all the timelines, including the origins of the Saurian Race.

Here is a video from my YouTube channel, highlighting the Saurian Race Eggs. Enjoy. :mrgreen:

So what do you think about these Easter Eggs (double standard)? Let us know in the comments below.
