Mortal Kombat: Rebirth
by Gambid on Jun 9, 2010 :: 8Two days ago a mysteries 8 minutes video clip appeared on YouTube. It has the title Mortal Kombat: Rebirth. It was uploaded with absolutely no additional information and caused a tremendous confusion and excitement both, among the fans and the press. Theories started to fly around the internet that this is a trailer for the third movie or even a trailer for Mortal Kombat 9. The fact that the video shows real and well known actors only helped things get developed in this directions. The situation became a lot more clear when actress Jeri Ryan who plays FBI Agent Sonya Blade in this video posted the following messages on her Twitter page:
It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film.

So, the video is an idea of reimagining the Mortal Kombat universe for a new movie. The director, Kevin Tancharoen wanted to pitch his vision to Worner Bros. and probably get a funding for the project. The video shows several Mortal Kombat characters, including Jackson Briggs, Scorpion, Reptile, Johnny Cage, Baraka and Sonya Blade and mentions, shows photos of two more, Sub-Zero and Shang Tsung.
The story is set in 2010 in Deacon Cityand the bad guys (Reptileand Baraka) are shown as a homicidal maniacs and killers. They, just like all other characters are humans and poses absolutely no extraordinary powers.
