Midway Chicago + Warner Bros = Netherrealm Studios

After Midway, the company that has been developing the Mortal Kombat Franchise for almost 18 years went out of business due to huge financial troubles, part of it, Midway Chicago and the entire Mortal Kombat franchise, was sold to Warner Bros. This did not affect the development of the next Mortal Kombat game. The new Mortal Kombat, which is currently just been called Mortal Kombat 9, is been developed by the same team that developed all previous games of the series.

According to recent news Midway Chicago is going to be renamed to Netherrealm Studios after one of the Mortal Kombat realms, The Netherrealm, which is home to characters such as Shinnok, Quan Chi and Sareena.

Fellow Mortal Kombat fan site TRMK even discovered that two domain names have been registered for the studio:
