- Ermac's Quest for Freedom - Act I: Creation
Shang Tsung paced the light room,
casting a shadow over the blank, white walls. A single pedestal
protruded from the ground, holding a single vase that glowed a shade of
light green out of the top. Shang Tsung ceased his nervous pace and
stood in front of the occupied pedestal, he examined it closely and put
his gloved hand to his chin.
"Why would Shao Khan want another sorcerer? Am I not good enough?"
"Do not question my judgment Shang Tsung." said a voice from behind
Tsung.
Shang Tsung turned around to find the king of Outworld, Shao Khan. Shang
Tsung gazed in horror at the skull shaped helmet that Shao Khan wore and
quickly got to his knees.
"Please, master. I didn't mean it, please don't kill?" Shang Tsung's
sentence was interrupted by Shao Khan's thundering voice.
"Do not worry about it Shang Tsung, you are the only one who can do all
this whenever I need magical services. I just want to see the creation
of my left hand sorcerer."
Shao Khan gave a thunderous laugh and crossed his arms, as he gazed at
the vase. Shang Tsung imagined the punishment that he would receive
should he refuse Shao Khan's orders. Shang Tsung took a spiteful glance
toward the direction of the vase before quickly returning his eyes to
Shao Khan's gaze.
"Well, Hurry and finish so that I can get back to my ruling of
Outworld."
Shang Tsung turned around to the vase that stood in the middle of the
room. He sighed and lifted his arms. His hands glowed green and the
substance that floated out of the vase started to ascend into his gloved
palms. After the vase was emptied of its green contents and into Shang
Tsung's hands Shang Tsung started to mumble an incantation.
"Take these souls and replace them into the body of a perfect warrior
and..." Shang Tsung paused before the last word, contempt brewing in his
heart "the perfect sorcerer?"
He threw his arms down and the souls flew to the ground and started to
take the shape of a man. The green man started to grow a face and other
features and eventually sprouted muscle, blood, skin and hair. Then,
before anyone could comprehend it, a human was born.
"We are in service to the great master, Shao Khan." said the newly made
man.
"That is great Shang Tsung, your duties here are diminished, please go
back to your daily chores."
"Yes, master." said Shang Tsung through gritted teeth.
He marched out of the room as Shao Khan stared in joy at his new
creation.
"You are now my left-hand man, you will serve under my rule with no
exceptions or arguments, and I now christen you: Ermac."
