Fan Fiction - A Tale of Scorpion & SubZero - Chapter 2: Unlikely Friendship

After the battle between Scorpion and SubZero, Scorpion had retired back into the temple to rest for his next fight. Scorpion walked down the dimly lit halls and corridors of the temple until he found his room. He unlocked the door and stepped inside. He shut the door behind him and stood staring at the body length mirror at his bedside. He took off his mask and gazed blankly at his own reflection. The reflection suddenly became distorted and turned into a mysterious, white-skinned man with tattoos all over him and an amulet. The reflection suddenly spoke to him, "I needed the help of a specter to defeat my nemesis, SubZero." Then, the image became distorted again and became SubZero. It showed him lying on the ground with Scorpion standing over him. The image of Scorpion spoke, "I have finally avenged the death of my family and clan!" SubZero spoke next, "You may have avenged your own death, but your family"s true killer still remains free!" A sharp knock on the small cabin's door awoke Scorpion from his delusions as he stared at his own reflection in the mirror. He threw his mask back on and walked to the door. He opened it to find a beaten and battered SubZero in his doorway. Scorpion lowered into a defensive stance, SubZero didn't flinch. "Are you just trying to be smug or are you paralyzed in fear?" said Scorpion. "Do not underestimate me I could take you out right now. I just want to talk." said SubZero. Scorpion then noticed the knife made of ice an inch away from his ribs. "Don't push me, I'll cut you down right now." Scorpion raised his defenses but dropped his stance. He sat on the bed and SubZero walked in the room. "Why did you spare me? You've been trying to kill me for years now." asked SubZero. "Your wife... she's having a baby, correct?" "Yes you are correct." said SubZero. "I may be a specter, but I am also a ninja. I do have some morals." said Scorpion. "Well then, me, Frost, and the soon to be SubZero III thank you." SubZero stretched out his arm and opened his hand. Scorpion rejected it in his mind at first, but then he remembered his delusion, "Your family's true killer still remains free!", maybe it was a glimpse into the future. Scorpion reached out his hand as well and they shook and for a second, SubZero had thought he had saw Scorpion smile.
